I’m going to call the Old Flame/New Squeeze split between Native America and Chris Rehm a blogiversary present to myself. I got it a few days ago and it has been played about 35 times through every day since. Get a tape for yourself!
While Chris Rehm makes an point of letting his noisy pop become ambiance, Native America keeps the folk pop steadier. The two artists go together beautifully and every once in a while amidst the constant tape hiss I find myself in some musical moment that I can’t believe I get to be a part of. They sometimes get weird, but they always stay real.
