There is a negative connotation with pop music, that it is shallow or mindless. It’s true, pop is not about the complex emotions of depression and loneliness, instead they encompass happiness, and more importantly the hope for happiness. These songs contain this optimism, though it is sometimes buried under the veil of clutter, reverb and fuzz.
